Overview
Arunachal Pradesh is a massive state. The West to East border spans a distance of more than 1200 KMs! If you look at the map of Arunachal Pradesh, you can’t go from one point tucked up in north to another, especially if you are traveling by public or shared transport. You have to come back south and almost touch the Assam Border before embarking upon another destination which doesn’t fall on your current route. For example, I took the Tezpur – Bhalukpong – Bomdila – Tawang – Zemithang – Tezpur route. Now, if I want to go to Ziro Valley, without coming down South, it’s not possible. Even though there is an apparent road through Seppa, there are just no transport options available to cut short one route and hop on to another. In order to go to Ziro valley, I will have to come back all the way to Itanagar and then again go up North. That means a day or two more in traveling. This is maybe to keep the travelers on one route and in compliance with their permit.

Itinerary
On Arrival Dibrugarh Airport (Assam), We begin our one-week Mechuka tour from here. After landing in the morning, you will be received by Phoenix Tours Arunachals representative. Keep with you your Arunachal Pradesh Tour Itinerary, as we start our journey towards the Assam-Arunachal border, slowly leaving Dibrugarh behind. Dibrugarh to Along is a beautiful drive, so, multiple photo stops along the way are expected. Don’t shy away from requesting your driver-cum guide to stop and let you breathe in the fresh mountain air of Arunachal Pradesh. Evening your own choice to visit local restaurents & Shopps. Night Dinner, Overnight stay in Hotel.
After breakfast proceed for local sightseeing around Aalo. Visit Patum Bridge, one of the longest hanging bridges over the Siyom River. Later visit Ramakrishna Mission School and explore nearby tribal villages and local markets. Local travel distance will be around 25–30 km and the sightseeing journey takes approximately 3–4 hours. Back to Hotel, Dinner , Overnight stay at Aalo.
After breakfast check out and drive towards Mechuka. The distance from Aalo to Mechuka is approximately 180 km and the journey takes around 6–7 hours through scenic mountain roads, valleys and rivers. Mechuka is a beautiful valley close to the Indo-China border and known for its peaceful environment. On arrival check-in at the Hotel and some time relax. Evening visit some restaurants & Shopps, Dinner, Overnight stay at Mechuka.
After breakfast explore the beautiful valley of Mechuka. Visit the famous Samten Yongcha Monastery, a 400-year-old Buddhist monastery situated on a hilltop. Later visit the scenic Mechuka Valley and the traditional wooden Mechuka Hanging Bridge. The total local sightseeing distance will be around 35–40 km and the travel time will be approximately 4–5 hours. Back to Hotel, Dinner, Overnight stay at Mechuka.
After breakfast visit Gurudwara Guru Nanak Taposthan, believed to be associated with Guru Nanak. Later visit Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground, a high-altitude airstrip maintained by the Indian Air Force offering spectacular mountain views. Spend the remaining time exploring the local villages and markets of Mechuka. Total travel distance for the day will be around 20–25 km and the journey time will be approximately 3–4 hours. Back to Hotel, Dinner, Overnight stay at Mechuka. Day 6 : Mechuka – Dibrugarh Departure
After early breakfast check out and drive back to Dibrugarh for departure. The distance between Mechuka and Dibrugarh is approximately 345 km and the journey takes around 9–10 hours by road via Aalo. On arrival drop at Dibrugarh Airport for onward journey with wonderful memories of Arunachal Pradesh.
